A Week of the I-Man…

Well, it’s been a full week of the new Imus in the Morning Show, and a lot hasn’t happened. The show that I once watched every morning with my father is now nothing more than a boring, dry program. The first show that aired last Monday spent more time on how Imus is not going to say anything to make his apology meaningless than anything else.

I once stood behind the I-Man, supported him while Sharpton and all those other phony intellectuals took jabs at him and marched for his termination. But, he did something I thought he would have never done: groveled and begged. Sure, his apology was needed. But did he need to spend 4 hours with the Rutgers basketball team? Did he need to go on Sharpton’s radio show? Give me a break. If this was someone else, Imus would have let him have it on his show. But, instead of standing up for himself and having a spine, he rolled over and gave up.

And now he’s back. I guess I thought the show might have stayed the same as it used to be. But who was I kidding? After the sappy story that took place in April, Imus can never be the same; he’ll never return to his normal ways on-air. Maybe that’s a good thing, maybe not. But, I’ll tell you one thing: It’s nothing what people expected.

Oh well. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it, right? The only beef I have is that now I have nowhere to turn to listen to Curtis and Kuby in the Morning. WABC-AM once had one of the highest rated morning shows in New York City; now they have Imus.

On another note: Did you see O’Reilly last Monday? Talk about groveling to Sharpton. Here’s Laura Ingraham’s thoughts on it:

I have a strong disliking for Sharpton. Who is he? Who is he? Answer that for me!!

Back to Imus: The only good thing that Imus has going for him is his producer, Bernie McGuirk. And, fortunately for the I-Man, they’ve been turning on Bernie’s mic every once in a while. Hopefully he won’t hold back like Imus has been. Only time will tell.

Only time will tell.

The Right Track – 12/3/2007

This is the final show of the semester! We talked with the Assistant to the President and Director of Governmental Relations Sue Peterson about the new initiatives for Spring 2008. We also talked with Matt and Lydia about dead week and K-State’s email system. Then, we had an exclusive interview with Curtis Sliwa, the former morning show host on WABC-AM in New York City…that’s right, the host that Imus knocked off. Sliwa is now seeking an injunction to get out of his contract, and we at the Right Track were the first media to interview him. Then we invited Adam and Kevin back to do sports, and as always, it was a blast.

There won’t be anymore audio until next semester, but there will be plenty of opinion, so keep checking back!

What to Expect Tonight…

We’ve got an extremely exciting show tonight…We will talk with Curtis Sliwa, the former morning show host on WABC-AM, the country’s most listened to talk radio station. I talked with him this morning, and he was getting ready to go into a meeting with his lawyer to seek an injunction against WABC…Apparently, they have him cornered doing his show every morning from 5-6 Eastern…He went from being one of the top rated morning shows in NYC to doing an hour long show before the I-Man. Speaking of the I-Man, we will also talk about his debut this morning. Between you and me, it was nothing like I had hoped…Very boring…But we’ll get into that tonight.

We’ll also take a look at the Democratic radio address, something we haven’t done for a few weeks.

Besides all of this, we’ll also talk with Matt Wagner and Lydia Peele and will have some sports talk with Adam Holste and Kevin McCarty. This is the last show of the semester, so don’t miss it!
